Best of all: You won’t even know it’s winter! In fact, unlike our southern city cousins, the Gold Coast offers balmy, sunny days throughout the majority of the season. Many locals still opt for a dip here or there at this time of year, so the water’s definitely not off limits.

Gold Coast Show – August 26 to 28
Meanwhile, if you’re planning on staying at Gemini Court in August, you might want to check out the 110th annual Gold Coast Show, held from August 26 to 28, or the Gold Coast Multicultural Festival, set for August 7.
Both massive events in the coast’s cultural calendar, the Gold Coast Show’s milestone 110th birthday is sure to be celebrated in style! Featuring a traditional country carnival experience, accompanied by all the modern facilities you’d expect of a metro show, organisers are already lining up a huge entertainment extravaganza – expect whip-crackers, sheep-shearers, fire twirlers, buskers, musicians, drummers and bongo players, bands, dancers and dancing groups and performers from primary and tertiary schools.
But that’s not all. Show organisers have issued a call for talented stilt walkers, acrobats, flash mobs, martial arts demonstrators, street artists, graffiti artists, DJ’s, hip-hop dance crews, beat boxers, singers, cultural performers, traditional performers, roving entertainers, poets and just about every performer in between!
You’ll also find the regular show fare – always popular, always a whole lot of fun – including food and drink stalls, games of chance and skill, rides and animal pavilions, arena shows and the usual agricultural competitions.
The show regularly draws more than 60,000 patrons and is one of the biggest agricultural shows in the southern hemisphere. Located just a short drive from Gemini Court, it’s well worth a day trip.
The Gold Coast Show will be held at the Gold Coast Showgrounds, Race Course Drive, Bundall, from 9am to 9pm across the three days.

Gold Coast Multicultural Festival – August 7
Another big drawcard on the Gold Coast’s packed event calendar is our annual Multicultural Festival, located at Southport Broadwater Parklands, right on the water, and just a short roadtrip away from Gemini Court.
A staggering 29% of Gold Coast residents were born overseas, and if you add to that the descendants of those born overseas, this figure increases to above 40%, so the festival attracts a large crowd.
The Gold Coast Multicultural Festival celebrates and showcases the skills and talents of our city’s diverse cultural communities through a variety of exciting and educational multicultural activities, culminating in the main Festival Day.
The festival has been running since 2008 and it’s a low-cost, family-friendly event, which includes multicultural performances, stalls, workshops and much more.
