The Gold Coast’s sunny shores will undergo a transformation early next year as the Australian Sand Sculpting Championships makes its annual, and much-anticipated, visit to the region. You can bet the kids will love this eccentric spectator sport, which continues to boom in popularity nationwide.
Held from Friday, February 13 to Sunday, March 1, and located just a short drive from Gemini Court Holiday Apartments in Burleigh Heads, the hotly anticipated championships will scatter a trail from Robina Town Centre to Westfield Helensvale, alongside the main event at The Foreshore, Surfers Paradise.

Ranging from a monstrous 10 to 25 tonne in weight, the sand creations are guaranteed to delight, whatever your age.
Sculptors from around Australia will be vying for the crown, so expect mind-blowing works of art created in a carefully calculated bid for the win.
The Sand Safari will also feature an interactive Disney display where you can a photo taken, as well as take part in interactive sand art and bottle workshops, which always prove popular.
You’ll be able to view the sculptors at work daily from 8am to 6pm from February 13 to March 1, as well as the build of the Disney Interactive Sculpture, held from 9.30am to 6pm daily from February 18 to 22. Nevertheless, all sculptures will remain open for viewing until March 1, giving an ample opportunity to check out the nifty works of precision and imagination.
