While the Gold Coast is famous for its iconic beaches, but don’t forget the green behind the gold on your next holiday. While most people stick to the beaches and tourist attractions, you’ll see a different side of the coast if you head up into the mountains.
Mt Tamborine Skywalk
For a truly spectacular view, why not walk the Mt Tamborine Skywalk. It’ll take you around 45 mins for this easy walk featuring 300 meters of steel bridges through the highest parts of the canopy, a 40 metre lookout that soars a breathtaking 30 metres above the creek and forest. The walk is 1.5kms and also features sections along the forest floor – it’s a fairly easy stroll through the forest so will suit most fitness levels.
Mt Tamborine Lookouts
There are dozens of lookouts along the mountain range, some simply require a short stroll, others are a more intense – both kinds offer a diverse range of scenery from waterfalls to caves, rainforest foliage to the more quintessential Australian forest.
Why not go for a stroll through Mt. Tamborine, eat some freshly made fudge, and wander through quirky shops and cafes. When you’re done go for a walk through the rainforest. There are so many different tracks to walk, you can have a lazy stroll to a look out, or enjoy a full hike. There is something to suit everyone.
While you’re up in the mountains why not check out the Glow Worms? There are two options, you can view them in their natural habitat at Natural Bridge – you’ll want to bring a torch and sturdy shoes as it gets very dark and there are plenty of stairs. You’ll need to visit at night and there are tours that can take you.
Alternatively, you can check out the Glow Worm Caves at Mt. Tamborine – although they are housed – this is the easiest way to see them, and you can visit during the day. For an added bonus you can find them here all year round – unlike at Natural Bridge where they are only visible during certain seasons.
