Castrol Gold Coast 600surfers-paradise-aerial
The Castrol Gold Coast 600 is a must see Gold Coast event, on the 21-23rd of October – however, you may not want to be surrounded by the excitement and atmosphere your entire trip, especially if you are looking for a more relaxing holiday. Staying at Gemini Court in Burleigh is an excellent choice; you’re close to the action – but far enough away to enjoy some peace and quiet.

While you’re checking out the action – be sure to watch the test races, as well as the main events! Soak up the atmosphere, watch one of the many music acts (The Living End, Birds of Tokyo, Peking Duck and The Rubens are all playing),

and when you’re done head back to the beautiful Burleigh Beach

for some R&R and some time on the beach.

surfingCoates Hire Coolangatta Gold
For the sporting and surf life saving fans, why not check out the Coates Hire Coolangatta Gold – with most of the action taking place around Burleigh, you can view the action from your balcony. Depending on your room at Gemini Court you might be able to see the ski, swim, run or board section of the competition before they head back to Coolangatta for the finish line! This event is held on the 15th of 16th October, so if you’re in town on those dates – try and get a room with ocean views so you can watch the action!

Swell & Saltfest
This month the Gold Coast was host to the Swell Sculpture Festival on Currumbin Beach – It’s a series of incredible art installations on the beach, and Saltfest, which was a community event catering to surf lovers. With surfboard shapers, surf artists and photographers, yoga classes, food trucks, surf gear and apparel! Keep these two brilliant events in mind for your next Gold Coast adventure.

Fishing at Tallebudgera Creek

Fishing at Tallebudgera Creek

Fishing at Tallebudgera Creek

For the days when you want to relax why not try your hand at fishing in Tallebudgera Creek. Tallebudgera translates into ‘good fishing’ in the indigenous language – so you know it’s a good fishing spot! Pick up a cheap rod and line, and enjoy some quiet time with the family.

This beautiful location is the perfect spot for a picnic, a quick dip, or to simply throw in a line and watch the boats and beautiful scenery (hopefully you’ll catch a fish or two). It’s just a short walk from the heart of Burleigh – and if you’re lucky you might even spot a few dolphins while you’re there.

Dining in Burleigh
Burleigh is packed full of dining options, fish and chips, a paleo café, tacos, and gourmet burgers – there’s really something for everyone.

Slurping Panda is a one of the newer restaurants. It’s a locally owned noodle bar in the Old Burleigh Theatre Arcade. All of their seafood, meat and vegetables is sourced from local suppliers; their curry pastes are even made on the premises. They are a modern fusion of Asian street food culture, with a focus on fresh ingredients. If you have kids, they also have a wonderful kid’s menu – and it’s very reasonably priced.

Slurping Panda

Sometimes you want a special and romantic evening – and you simply can’t go past Oskars Restaurant. With perhaps the most spectacular views on the Gold Coast, and a delicious modern Australian and seafood menu you won’t be disappointed. The restaurant has won numerous awards and it’s recommended that you make a reservation.  If you can time it right, and visit during a sunset and moon rise – it’s truly a spectacular view watching the sun set over the hinterland with the light bouncing over the ocean, only to see the moon rise shortly after.

Air Factory

Air Factory
If you’ve got an energetic soul, or little ones – you’ll have to visit Air Factory Burleigh. It’s essentially a room filled with trampolines. Stand Up Paddle Boarding, Rock Pools and Sunday Nights at Burleigh

Burleigh Heads is the place to be if you are looking for a relaxing Gold Coast getaway, far enough away from the hustle and bustle to enjoy the things the locals love best, and close enough to still enjoy the usual tourist attractions and have a blast. Perhaps you’re keen to try Stand Up Paddle boarding, want to go for a lovely picnic or swim at the Currumbin rock pools or to experience the wonder that is Sunday Nights at Burleigh where the fire twirlers show off, and the tribal drums play.

Stand Up Paddle Boarding
Stand Up Paddle Boarding is such a fun experience, and perfect for all ages. The boards are large and make it easy to keep your balance. It’s a truly unique way to explore the beautiful Gold Coast. The closest place to go (and the local favourite) is to visit Tallebudgera Creek, just on the other side of the headland.

Stand Up Paddle Boarding

Stand Up Paddle Boarding

The coastal creek is a perfect place for a picnic or a quick dip – but while you’re here, try your hand at SUP, as it’s affectionately known. There are a number of local hire places, but check with us at reception before you book anything as we will be able to point you in the right direction. The best time to go is earlier in the morning, as it can get a little more difficult as the tide starts to come in – so be sure to check the tides with your hire company before you book and leave.

Currumbin Rock Pools
The Currumbin Rock Pools are one of the best-kept secrets on the coast, be sure to ask around for people’s favourite spots – there are some less well known spots around  – they just require a bit more of a hunt to find them.  The main set of rock pools are just a short drive from Burleigh – a quick walk down a path and you’ll see the most popular pools. Enjoy a picnic on the banks, have a swim and just enjoy a day out in nature.  The perfect spot if it gets a little too hot and crowded on the beaches, or you want to have a nice relaxing picnic by the water with the protection of the trees and forest.

Sunday Nights at Burleigh
You haven’t truly experienced Burleigh unless you have been witness to a Sunday night Fire Twirlersbeachside. In the park by the beach, Sunday nights are where people come out to play. You’ll find fire twirlers, people singing and dancing, musicians jamming, hula hooping and slack lining (similar to a tightrope). You can just watch or be as involved as you like. It’s a memorable occasion and one we are lucky enough to have on nearly every Sunday (weather is usually the only factor in a quiet or cancelled event).

Burleigh Heads has one of the finest dining precincts on the coast, with so many options from casual take away fish and chips to eat by the beach to 5 star restaurants, and one of the most beautiful beaches on the Gold Coast, it is the best place to stay.
