Hidden away on the southern side of Burleigh Heads National Park, Echo Beach, or Secret Beach as it is affectionately known by the locals, is a beautiful, safe destination for families or groups of friends.
Of course, Burleigh beach, right on the doorstep of Gemini Court Holiday Apartments, is a world famous swimming and surfing location, but if you’re looking to get away to somewhere slightly more peaceful then Echo beach is a wonderful option.
Pack a towel, sunscreen and lots of water before you head off for an easy stroll from your Gemini Court apartment around Burleigh headland to this lovely location. It’s really not that far.
Take time on your walk to enjoy the spectacular views from this extremely popular coastal pathway. Jagged, volcanic rocks serve their purpose as launch pads for surfers seeking an easy entrance to our famous break.
Enjoy the wild beauty of the rainforest, eucalypt forest, pandanus groves, mangrove trees and tussock grassland. Virtually a living museum, Burleigh headland is a refuge for migrating birds, including white-bellied sea-eagles, kites and ospreys that fish in Tallebudgera Creek.
Burleigh headland is also of major indigenous significance, so visit the Tourist Information Centre at the end of the coastal pathway if you are interested in finding out more.
Whilst at Echo Beach:
- Gather twigs and branches to make a cubby
- Collect some of the many shells
- Soak up the sun or enjoy the shade.
- Swim in the creek. There are no waves but there is a strong current further out so be careful.
