After checking into our lovely Gemini Court Burleigh Heads accommodation, my husband and I immediately gravitated to the balcony with its sweeping views from Burleigh Heads to Surfers Paradise.
But it wasn’t Surfers that caught our attention, just off Burleigh Headland we could see the distinct outline of two humpback whales putting on a great display. There were quite a few people gathered on the headland but no-one had a better view than us from our wonderful Burleigh Heads holiday apartment balcony!
It was at that very moment that we decided to talk to the super-friendly Gemini Court staff and book a whale-watching cruise. It was all very easy. We discussed a few different options and decided on a cruise that sounded perfect for us.
The transfer arrived early at our Burleigh Heads accommodation and we were quickly whisked to the boat. It was a beautiful, crisp winter day, perfect for tracking the gentle, inquisitive whales.
Our catamaran had a walk around lower deck, which meant no matter where the whales were we could all see them. Whales are gorgeous, playful creatures who also like to have a bit of a look at you! One of the pods came pretty close to inspect us then headed off to display their awesome breaching techniques. I can’t think we’ve enjoyed a day more.
Back at our super Burleigh Heads accommodation we returned to the balcony and watched the sunset over a glass of wine. The perfect way to end a perfect day.
Of course, staying in such a beautifully kept, self-contained unit with incredible views meant the rest of our stay at Gemini Court Holiday Apartments was also a totally relaxing, fun holiday, but we will never forget the day we had a close encounter of the giant sea-creature kind. We would recommend it to anyone!
